VAT RETURNS

Any business with a turnover of £90,000 or more must register for VAT and file quarterly tax returns.

VAT rules can be complicated, even for small businesses, and mistakes are easily made. These can be costly, both in terms of overpayment of VAT and potential fines from HMRC.

We will prepare and submit your VAT returns every quarter (or monthly), check all VAT codes, fix errors, keep your records MTD‑compliant, and make sure you never miss a deadline.

From April 2026, any sole trader or landlord that meets HMRC’s Making Tax Digital turnover thresholds must keep digital records and submit quarterly updates through approved software.

Currently this applies to businesses with a turnover of £50,000 or more. This will reduce to £30,000 in April 2027,  and £20,000 in April 2028.

This can be confusing, time‑consuming, and easy to get wrong — especially when switching from paper records or spreadsheets. HMRC penalties apply for late submissions, missing digital records, or non‑compliance.

We provide full MTD compliance support by setting up your digital record‑keeping and ensuring your software is HMRC‑compatible. We will prepare and submit quarterly updates, and keep your accounts fully aligned with MTD requirements.

CIS RETURNS

Any business that uses a .sub-contractor must register with HMRC as a CIS contractor and complete monthly CIS returns to HMRC.

This can be time-consuming and easy to get wrong, with heavy penalties for incorrect treatment.

We can provide full CIS compliance for sole traders and small construction businesses.

We verify subcontractors, calculate CIS deductions, file monthly CIS returns, issue payment statements, and reconcile everything with HMRC.
